Commissioned by Mastercard, Fans vs. Facts was conceived as a live studio show exploring one central question ahead of the decisive stages of the UEFA Champions League 2021: Which team has what it takes to reach the final in Istanbul?Produced in partnership with Goal Deutschland, the format brought together emotional fan perspectives and data-driven analysis in a 10-minute live broadcast.
Hosted by Antonia Wisgickl, the show juxtaposed passionate arguments from fans with statistical insights provided by Opta data expert Michael Yoann Mitter. While supporters made the case for belief, facts and probabilities introduced tension and debate — creating a dynamic contrast between emotion and analysis. The format actively invited audience participation, encouraging viewers to share their own predictions in real time.
The project was directed live by Max Mayer and realized as a multi-format production, including the full studio show, a 60-second highlight film, and 15-second social media promos. Produced by Habitual Media, Fans vs. Facts was released as a paid branded partnership, combining live direction, sports journalism, and branded storytelling to turn anticipation around the Champions League into an engaging, shared viewing experience.
